NexPhase Capital, LP (“NexPhase”), a thematically driven private equity firm, today announced that Stephan (“Steve”) S. Rodgers has joined the firm as a Healthcare Operating Partner. Mr. Rodgers brings more than 25 years of executive leadership experience across home health, hospice, infusion services, and managed care, further strengthening NexPhase’s deep operating capabilities in healthcare services.
Mr. Rodgers has more than 25 years of leadership experience in healthcare services, including serving for more than a decade as Chief Executive Officer of AccentCare, a national provider of home health, hospice, and personal care services. During his tenure, he grew AccentCare from approximately $400 million in revenue across seven states to more than $1.6 billion with a national footprint. Under his leadership, the company expanded clinical capabilities, scaled operations to more than 250 locations across 31 states, and built a workforce exceeding 30,000 employees.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Rodgers spent 12 years at UnitedHealth Group in a series of senior executive roles, including as Founder and Chief Executive Officer of OptumHealth Collaborative Care (now OptumCare), a technology- and data-enabled health services platform. His experience spans product innovation, network operations, payer-provider integration, and value-based care strategy, providing him with a differentiated perspective across both care delivery and managed care.
At NexPhase, Mr. Rodgers will work closely with the firm’s investment professionals and portfolio company leadership teams to support diligence, strategic planning, operational execution, and value creation initiatives across healthcare investments. His extensive experience evaluating healthcare investments and advising private equity firms on sector strategy and operational improvement positions him to contribute immediately to NexPhase’s healthcare platform.
Mr. Rodgers currently serves on the Board of Directors of Enhabit, a national home health and hospice organization. He began his healthcare career as a U.S. Army medic and worked in hospital, skilled nursing, and home-based care settings while completing his undergraduate studies. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Biochemistry from the University of California.
“Steve’s track record of scaling complex, multi-site healthcare organizations – and his deep understanding of the payer-provider dynamic – aligns directly with how we invest and build companies at NexPhase,” said Chip Robie, Partner at NexPhase Capital. “He brings rare fluency across both the provider and payer sides of healthcare, and we believe his operational depth in home-based care, infusion services, and value-based models meaningfully deepens our ability to partner with management teams and drive disciplined, sustainable growth.”
“Steve’s ability to evaluate healthcare businesses through both an operational and strategic lens is a tremendous asset to our investment process,” said Andy Kieffer, Partner at NexPhase Capital. “His firsthand experience building and scaling national platforms gives our team – and our portfolio company partners – an invaluable resource as we pursue our healthcare investment strategy.”
“NexPhase has built a strong reputation for thematic investing and hands-on partnership with healthcare services companies,” said Mr. Rodgers. “I’ve spent my career building organizations that deliver high-quality care at scale, and I’m energized by the opportunity to bring that experience to NexPhase’s portfolio. I look forward to partnering with the NexPhase team as we strive to strengthen clinical and operational infrastructure and drive long-term value across the portfolio.”
